RULES

These rules are guidelines to the General Play of the SAIT Curling League, please remember this is a FUN league

Start time is 4:30. A late team will forfeit one point and one end, plus the hammer, for every 10 minutes the game is delayed. After 30 minutes the game is forfeited

Each team must have a minimum of three players to commence the game, two of which must be regular team members.
Spares should be from or affiliated with SAIT whenever possible. Spares can curl in whatever position is vacant of a regular member. For example, if a lead or second is missing, the spare can curl lead or second. If a third is missing, the spare can curl at third. If a skip is absent, a spare can act as temporary skip.

A game terminates when: 8 ends are completed, or 1 full end after the buzzer, or a team concedes

Ties are acceptable
The team receiving the highest percentage of wins to total games played will be declared the League Champion (during regular season play).
If ties exist at season-end, the championship will be determined by regular season play (team vs team results and then most wins).  If this is not possible a play-off will be held to determine the champion.

Alternate curlers, as listed on the team member's list, may replace their alternate in any given position.
A team must have a minimum of two members and a spare to start a game. If a team can't meet this requirement then the team will have to forfeit the game.  There are no make up games during the season.

On ice play will be governed by the rules of The Canadian Curling Association

BONSPIEL PLAY

Regular season rules apply with the exception of ties. Ties are broken by skips throwing with sweeping by throwing team only. Closest to the centre wins. To count on a tie-breaker, rocks MUST be in the house (touching the rings). If after skip rocks no rocks were in the house, thirds will throw. If still no rocks found the house, seconds will throw, etc.

SAFA DOUBLE BOARD

1. Two (or more) opposition rocks have to be in the rings and removed completely from play to constitute a 'double'.

2. Claiming the Double Board:

a. In order to speed up play, locate the board.
b. The board is then moved to the sheet of ice that the double was scored on.
c. The board is located beneath the scoreboard in plain sight.

3. It is possible that while the board is being placed (or soon thereafter) another team may score a double in which case the board is moved again.

4. Claiming the Prize

a. The team that has the Double Board at the buzzer will be considered to be the winner for the evening.

5. If NO team claims the Double Board, too bad. Better luck next week.
